ClimateQ: toward a greener Queensland presents the next phase in Queensland’s response to the challenge of climate change. The revised strategy presents investments and policies to ensure Queensland remains at the forefront of the national climate change response.

Toward Q2: Tomorrow’s Queensland
The Queensland Government’s Toward Q2: Tomorrow’s Queensland strategy outlines the government's commitment to tackling climate change and helping Queenslanders reduce their carbon footprint.
The strategy includes a 2020 Q2 Green Target of cutting the State's household carbon footprint by a third – however this cannot be achieved without community action.

Helping Queenslanders to reduce their carbon footprint
The Queensland Government has a range of programs and initiatives to help Queenslanders make ClimateSmart choices and reduce their household carbon footprint.
These include:
- The Low Carbon Diet is a 30-day program that shows households how to reduce their CO2 emissions by making simple changes to everyday actions, and encourages members of the community to work together to share their knowledge about climate smart lifestyle changes.
- The Low Carbon Diet Community Funding program assists community groups, local councils and tertiary institutions to implement the Low Carbon Diet with grants between $2000 and $10,000.
- The ClimateSmart Home Service can help householders to reduce their energy use around the house and also reduce the cost of energy bills.
- The ClimateSmart Retail program can help Queenslanders with purchasing a whitegoods appliance that could save them water, energy and money.
- Supporting the national climate change campaign, 1 Million Women, to inspire one million Australian women to make a commitment to each cut one tonne of CO2 in a year.
- Providing Queenslanders with advice about sustainable building practices and information about sustainable development under the Sustainable Planning Act.
- Encouraging Queenslanders to be TravelSmart - to reduce their car use and instead consider environmentally-friendly travel options such as public transport, cycling, walking and carpooling.
- Encouraging recycling at home and in public places around Queensland.
- Through the Queensland Solar Hot Water Program, eligible participants have access to a standard installed and warranted, solar or heat pump hot water system for a payment of $100 for eligible pensioners and low income earners, and $500 for other eligible participants.
- The Queensland Government is providing encouragement for householders to switch to solar through the Solar Bonus Scheme.
