Rebates and grants

Going green at home needn't cost you the earth with a range of state and federal government rebates, grants and funding available to help you reduce your household carbon footprint.

Below is a summary of some on offer.

Queensland

  • Solar sport and community group grants are available for not-for-profit sporting and community organisations to help with the costs of installing solar panels or solar hot water systems on their facilities.
  • Solar bonus scheme - pays households and other small customers for the surplus electricity generated from roof-top solar photovoltaic (PV) panel systems that is exported to the Queensland electricity grid.
  • The Queensland Government Solar Hot Water Rebate is helping to make it easy and affordable for Queenslanders to replace their electric hot water system with solar hot water, offering rebates of up to $1000 to eligible households.
  • ClimateSmart Business Cluster program - grants of $10, 000 for Cluster Leaders to facilitate activities and achievements of a Business Cluster.
  • Natural Resources Awareness Grants help community Natural Resource Management groups such as Landcare, Bushcare, Coastcare, and Waterwatch to promote the importance of natural resources in our lives.  The theme for the 2010 round is 'Reducing our carbon footprint'.

Federal

  • The Federal Government website has a range of rebates, funding and loans available to help householders with ceiling insulation, solar, water, and energy matters.

Local government

  • Some Queensland local governments also offer assistance to help you go green. Contact your relevant local council for more information.
